Getting Started Guide

Let the Asset.Guru journey begin!  Asset.Guru is designed to help you get onboard quickly and easily to enable the automation of your fixed asset management and leverage the true value of your assets!
The onboard process can be summarised in 2 steps to be well on your way to fixed asset enlightenment 😉

Step 1.)  Account Settings

Firstly, connect to your Accounting Package (Xero or QuickBooks Online).  If you have a different accounting package or would prefer not automatically post journals, select Excel.
If you have chosen to connect Xero or QuickBooks Online, complete your account setup by configuring your Asset Types.  Asset Types are categories to set default depreciation schedules and accounts for accounting functions.
The next settings to check are your Accounting Rules, these are located on the Admin page and control settings such as your Journal Posting Start date and accounting app integration preferences.

Step 2.)  Asset record entry

There are two ways to initially get assets into Asset.Guru with the fastest way being dependent on how many assets you’re initially importing.
If you only have a handful, then we’d recommend using the Single Asset Entry to be the most straight forward way.
If more than a few assets, then using the Bulk Asset Upload would be the way to go.
Asset.Guru has an inbuilt asset data validation/approval process.  This is enabled by having assets first entered as Draft Assets that can then be reviewed before Activating to the Asset Register.
Hot Tip!
The best way to get the most out of Asset.Guru is to share the love!  Each subscription of Asset.Guru com comes with multiple user licenses.  They can easily be assigned with appropriate permission levels.
Who maintains your assets?  Where are these records kept?  Do your assets have service schedules?
